It's a little bit difficult to understand why there isn't an official utility from Mozilla, for something so (crucially) important - for, literally, anybody and everybody that uses the browser. Fortunately, Firefox is backward-compatible and can still recognize and use the old files - alongside new ones - but, this is mentioned nowhere on Mozilla's (support) pages, the link you have provided.
